Rivers Of Chocolate Polluted With Oil

Posted in Content by Noah Harlan on June 6, 2010

This commercial would normally make me very happy. I like chocolate. I love Charlie & The Chocolate Factory (I’m partial to the Gene Wilder original, but hey, I’m old-fashioned like that).

The problem is, it just doesn’t feel right. Those rivers of chocolate look too much like what’s happening in the gulf, and that is just too sad. It’s interesting how an image can become recontextualized like that.
